Jiangsu Yizhong: A Guide to CNC Boring and Milling Machines
Industry News2025-04-07 11:53:20

CNC Boring and Milling Machines are compound, high-precision machining equipment that integrates boring and milling functions. They are widely used in the precision machining of components across industries such as aerospace, energy, shipbuilding, and construction machinery.

I. Core Classifications and Features

Horizontal CNC Boring and milling machine: Features a horizontally arranged spindle for easy chip evacuation. It specializes in machining complex box-type parts and deep-hole components, meeting the demands of multi-face integrated processes.

Floor-Type CNC Boring and Milling Machine: Adopts a single-column, side-mounted gearbox layout with a worktable load capacity of up to tens of tons. It is ideal for five-sided machining of heavy-duty, extra-large workpieces.

Jig Boring Machine (Coordinate CNC Boring and Milling Machine): Offers micron-level positioning accuracy, specifically designed for ultra-precision machining of high-precision hole systems and fine datum surfaces.

Gantry CNC Boring and Milling Machine: Features a dual-column open structure with a long-span travel design, suitable for machining large-sized workpieces such as rail transit bogies and large flanges.

II. Key Technical Parameters

Positioning Accuracy: Mainstream models can achieve ±0.005mm/300mm, while high-end hydrostatic guideway models can reach an overall accuracy of 0.01mm.

Spindle Performance: Common spindle speed ranges from 40 to 6,000 rpm, with main motor power ranging from 15 to 60 kW. The boring bar torque of some heavy-duty models can reach up to 5,000 Nm.

Travel Specifications: X-axis travel covers a range from 1,500 mm to 14,000 mm, supporting customized large-size machining ranges on demand.

Rapid Traverse Rate: Standard models operate at 12–40 m/min, while high-speed models further enhance dynamic response efficiency.

III. Mainstream Application Scenarios

Machining heavy-duty energy equipment parts, such as wind power gearboxes and steam turbine cylinders.

Mass production of rail transit components, including construction machinery structural parts and high-speed rail bogies.

One-clamp completion of multi-process complex workpieces, such as large molds, precision boxes, and flange tube sheets.

IV. Common Faults and Troubleshooting Methods

Abnormal Spindle Speed: Prioritize checking the contact status of the motor power lines and the tension of the drive belt. Replace the motor windings if necessary.

Axis Movement Anomalies: Check the servo drive alarm information, inspect the wear condition of the ball screw and nut assembly, and promptly replace any failed components.

Decreased Machining Accuracy: Clean debris from the guideways and replenish lubrication. Verify the tool wear; if it exceeds tolerances, restore the guideway accuracy.

Power Module Failure: Use a multimeter to test the circuit continuity and the module's output voltage. Replace the corresponding components in case of a short circuit or abnormal output.
